Replacing Rule-Based Alerts with Graph-Based Entity Resolution

The Challenge

The unit's legacy monitoring flagged transactions individually, generating thousands of low-value alerts per week. Investigators spent most of their time triaging noise, and sophisticated layering across shell accounts frequently went undetected because no single transaction looked suspicious on its own.

The Solution

AftPak designed and deployed a graph-based entity resolution engine that models beneficial ownership, account relationships, and transaction flows as a connected network rather than isolated events. Alerts are now generated at the network level, with automated SAR drafting for confirmed patterns and a redesigned investigator workflow built around the new alert shape.
